It’s been an exciting start to the year here at the lorries. We’re delighted to announce that we’ve opened a new North American office in Austin, Texas as part of our ongoing expansion following a record-breaking year of growth in 2021. The new office strengthens our US presence, adding to our existing sites in Boston and Los Angeles. It also brings our global office count up to six alongside our London headquarters and European locations in Paris and Berlin.
Austin has rapidly emerged as a technology hub over the last few years. It has quickly become one of the hottest relocation destinations for tech talent, attracting startups and global brands alike. This includes the likes of Oracle, Tesla, Palantir and Google, all of whom either have offices in Austin or have announced plans to move large parts of their operations there.
Not wanting to miss out on the party, we thought it was about time to establish our own Texas roots. Our new Austin office will support our growing roster of enterprise IT clients in the region, which already covers a range of sectors including cloud infrastructure, blockchain, martech and cyber security.
“It’s been an exciting year for our US operation, which has grown significantly both in terms of headcount and clients,” said our director of North America, Meredith L. Eaton. “Now, we want to take the next step. Austin’s booming tech scene offers a perfect opportunity for us to increase our presence in a competitive market and better serve our enterprise IT clients in America.”
“We’ve doubled in size over the last two years – despite a global pandemic – which is a testament to the fantastic work of our teams around the world,” added our founder and CEO, Guy Walsingham. “We believe Austin will provide a perfect springboard for future growth as 2022 gets underway, enabling us to further expand our footprint, better support clients’ evolving needs and attract new talent.”
This expansion comes on the back of an unprecedented year of growth. As well as increasing the size of our global team by 58% – 46% in the US specifically – we won 40 new clients across all regions. Our US operation accounted for 43% of these new clients wins, which include cryptocurrency compliance and intelligence company Blockchain Intelligence Group, open-source blockchain ecosystem Celo Foundation and digital identity management provider Imprivata.
Jim Sheehan, vice president of global corporate communications at long-time lorry client Avid, commented: “the lorries possess the intuition and deep bench strength to work like a natural extension of Team Avid wherever we need to show up strong. That they continue to invest to grow their global footprint and capabilities gives us even more means to collaborate and fires up our creativity.”
